The Metro Valley The Metro Valley is home to Charleston, the state’s capital. Although this is a great place to find luxuries only found in a large city, the majority of the region is rural and home to many of nature’s beauties. This State Capitol is known for its gleaming gold dome, which towers over the city from its east end. This pedestrian friendly city boasts great markets, quaint avenues, and unique shops for the worldly shopper. Traveling east, one will run into the town of Malden. Here you will find the Midland Trail, one of the oldest traveling routes in the country and the home of Booker T. Washington, as well as, the African Zion Baptist Church where he used to preach. One of the best outdoor destinations is McClintic Wildlife Station, near Point Pleasant, where hunters and anglers will relish in the plentiful pike and migratory birds. Home to wild game such as whitetail deer, squirrel, grouse and wild turkey, it’s a great place for any outdoor lover. |
