The State Park Smith Mountain Lake State Park, located in Huddleston at the northern side of the lake, has hiking trails, campsites and picnic areas. At the park visitors' center you can find many interesting exhibits of the history and folklore of Smith Mountain Lake. Amateur astronomers can also stargaze at the visitors’ center. Another popular attraction is the Smith Mountain Dam. Audiovisual presentation that shows how the dam was built, models of the Smith Mountain Lake and Leesville dams and many more exhibits offer an educational experience for people of all ages. |
