Central Ski Areas Killington is home to some of the East’s most difficult terrain and has produced more skiers on the US Team than any other ski area in the country. However, the resort offers seven mountains and 200 trails of diverse terrain for all ability levels. With the world’s most extensive snowmaking system, visitors are sure to get the ski vacation they are looking for. The first ski tow in the United States was rigged in Woodstock in 1934. Three years later, the Suicide Six Ski Area was opened and has been operating ever since. Offering 23 trails, a half pipe, and two double chair ski lifts, its is a great place to get away from the crowds and experience skiing the way it was almost 100 years ago. Located in the stunning Mad River Valley, Sugarbush has terrain running from six mountains that rise up 4,000 feet with 111 trails, 2,600 feet of vertical, and 40 acres of wooded terrain. With 54 miles of terrain for all abilities, one of the East’s largest learning areas, plenty of groomers, steep mogul fields, glades, narrows, and a redesigned snow park and half pipe, its no wonder why Sugarbush is legendary among Vermont skiers. Ascutney Mountain Resort is home to 56 trails for skiing and riding, diverse terrain for the whole family, and a 1,800 vertical foot rise. Other activities include tubing, ice-skating, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. All of this plus an in-house movie theatre, torchlight parades, bonfires, and special events and entertainment make this a great family vacation spot. |
