The Park City Experience

This mountain town is full of adventure with world-class skiing, world-renowned festivals, and views unlike any other.
Vacation Guide - RentalsExpress.com © 2008

Park City, founded as a mining town, began to grow into the resort town it is today in the 1960’s as the ski industry started to take off. It is now one of the largest ski and snowboarding resorts in the country. Hailed for great snow conditions and an abundance of powder throughout the season, its no wonder the area gets so much acclaim from snow sports lovers. Located just 36 miles from the Salt Lake International Airport and with a free bus system that runs every 20 minutes from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. every day, the town is so easy to get to and get around in. The options for lodging are so abundant; there is something for every family or group’s stay. Choose a luxurious home on the slopes, a condo near Main Street, a full-service hotel, an economical studio, or anything else you might be interested in. The town has it all. Park City's many award-winning restaurants are among the finest in the west, offering many different culinary styles and influences. With over 100 restaurants and bars, there's something for every taste and every desire. After dinner visitors will want to wind down with an evening of visiting with friends at a jazz bar or spice it up at local dance club. Just remember, the slopes open early! Shoppers and window browsers alike will love what the streets of Park City have to offer. Visitors will find shops selling everything from handmade furniture to art collectibles and Western antiques. Historic Main Street is lined with quaint shops and galleries offering souvenirs, haute couture, and everything in between.

In addition to the great world-class skiing and snowboarding all winter and spring, there are plenty of great activities going on all year long. Locals and visitors alike enjoy athletic events, arts and cultural events, and year-round recreation. Utah Winterfest, a 10-day festival with a Freestyle World Cup Competition at Deer Valley Resort, is a great way to experience the town. Of course, January kicks off the annual Sundance Film Festival where film buff, movie moguls, and glitterati descend on Park City for a week. This is a great time to go skiing with the short lift lines while everyone is at the movies. Music lovers will not want to miss the new Dear Valley Music Festival featuring the Utah Symphony and Opera. With all of the winter activities including skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and dog sledding, it’s easy to forget about all the great activities offered in the summer. Golfing in Park City is an experience all its own with shockingly beautiful views and the addition to your long game at 6,000 feet. Try out the Park City Golf Club or the Park Meadows Country Club and be sure to book through the Resort Golf Marketing group. In Park City, visitors are never far from a river or stream. Grab some lures and a pole, and spend an afternoon in the cool mountain waters, either on your own or with an experienced guide. Local spas and fitness centers add to the experience of vacationing in Park City. The world-class experience found in Park City, Utah will delight with beautiful scenery, first-rate winter conditions, and the perfect mountain town.

Skiing in Utah
Utah is the first state to challenge Colorado as THE state for premier skiing. With a handful of resorts in the Park City area hosting the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, the world found out that Utah has great mountains for skiing and riding. The great experiences visitors have year after year at the 14 alpine ski resorts found around the state back up the claim that Utah has the “Greatest Snow on Earth.” Utah offers a variety of mountains and experiences for any kind of vacation with family friendly ski areas, unspoiled backcountry, classic slopes, wild rides in the new terrain parks, and terrain for beginner to expert skiers and riders. Eleven of the Utah resorts are within 60 miles of Salt Lake City, which make it so convenient to try them all out.
