The History New Braunfels is a small town in Texas, about an hour’s drive from Austin and within a comfortable driving distance from most major Texas cities. Founded in 1845, when Prince Carl of Solms-Braunfels, Germany brought the first group of immigrants to a huge plot of land he had purchased along the Guadalupe River, New Braunfels still has a touch of German culture. Every fall the city hosts Wurstfest, one of the largest German festivals in America. Historic New Braunfels is one of the top tourist attractions in Texas. Besides water parks, you can savor an unforgettable tubing or boating experience in the Guadalupe River or the Comal River in New Braunfels. The Main Plaza, the Fountain, the Bandstand, the Comal County Courthouse and the bell tower are some of the main attractions here. |
