Southeast South Dakota is great for camping, hunting and fishing, relaxing, and learning about the heritage of the people. Palisades State Park, outside of Garretson, offers activities such as rock climbing, hiking through quartzite formations, viewing historic sites, and kayaking on Split Rock Creek, which flows through the park. Visitors who are looking for a unique day trip should visit Harrisburg and its Heartland Country Corn Maze. This 6.6-acre maze can be tried in the daylight or after hours. Adventure lovers should travel to Yankton to spend the day with the Mississippi River Expeditions. You can take a 1, 2, 3, or 4-day kayaking trip following the trail of Lewis & Clark. If visiting in the winter, take a trip to Sioux Falls and the Great Bear Recreation Park. The recreation area offers we offer 12 downhill trails for skiing and riding, tubing, and the area’s only park and lift. Come and visit for a little winter fun! |
