Bannister's Wharf accommodation consists of four rooms each with two double beds, which open onto a deck. The room and deck have a full view of Newport harbor and our exclusive marina. Our fifth room has a view from the room of the famous Newport Yachting Center home of many events including, the Newport International Boat Show, and on into the South West Corner of the Harbor. From the deck of this room you can sit and watch the world make its way up and down Bannister's Wharf; enjoying the hustle and bustle of Wharf life without having to be in it! Sharing the same deck is our harbor side suite. This suite consists of one bedroom with a Queen size bed and a studio living room with a full double bed, seating area and wet bar.
All rooms and suites have bathrooms, TV, refrigerator and air conditioning for your comfort.
The wharf John Bannister built was the social and commercial lifeline to colonial Newport, the connector between an active harbor and an enterprising young town. A century and a half ago, the shops which lined the Wharf were the purveyors of life's necessities. Today, 20 shops and galleries offer a diverse selection of life's niceties. They are welcoming places where storekeepers have assembled the unusual, the distinctive, and the very, very tempting.
At the focal point of Bannister's Wharf is the Clarke Cooke House Restaurant, and some say it is the focal point of Newport itself. Here serious diners and those in search of lighter fare or a purely social evening will find satisfaction. The chef is rarely referred to in less than reverent terms and the well preserved 18th century dining rooms provide the proper environment in which to enjoy his creations.
In the midst of all the eclectic dining and shopping experiences are the Bannister's Wharf Guestrooms, which over look the small, but exclusive Marina.
