Our cottage vacation getaway is located down a country lane and behind a locked gate, nestled deep in a quiet valley near rural Warfordsburg, Pa. The peaceful surroundings give no hint to the activity and attractions that lie in the surrounding area.
Fully furnished and beautifully decorated, our cottages have an atmosphere that many guests say makes them feel at home. A stay at one of our cottages can be busy and exciting, or relaxing and peaceful.... the choice is up to you.
The surrounding property has numerous trails, from simple to more strenuous, for you to explore. The lake, which is just a nice stroll away, is well stocked for the fisherman, and has a dock, and a floating dock....a perfect place to read or write or just daydream. Bikes are provided should you prefer biking, rather than walking, to the lake for a peaceful afternoon.
The spacious decks and french doors of Francena give an open feel to the outdoors, the cozy porch at Sophronia is perfect for bird watching and conversation, and Lory is located all alone, right at the lake.
If you prefer cooking in to eating out, our kitchens are well equipped for the average cook or the chef at heart. Campfire areas at each cottage provide a great place to toast marshmallows, and have a great time laughing with that special someone or friends and family.

FRANCENA COTTAGE sits among the tall red oak trees near Bear Creek and has a bonfire area w/picnic table and charcoal grill. This two bedroom cottage sleeps 4 adults very comfortably with one queen size bed and one full size bed. The great room includes a very cozy gas fireplace, making it the perfect place to relax with your favorite book on a chilly night.The kitchen is fully furnished with electric range, microwave, toaster, coffee-maker, and refrigerator. Electric baseboard heat and air conditioning keeps the cottage comfortable. The full bath has a tub w/shower and a full size washer/dryer. All bath and bed linens are provided. Francena's deck w/adirondack chairs, french-style patio doors, and a relaxing Solana Hot Tub, makes this cottage a great place to enjoy the outdoors !
SOPHRONIA COTTAGE sits on the banks of Bear Creek and has a beautifully treed front lawn with volleyball net, bonfire area w/picnic table, and tree swing. The cottage sleeps 4 adults with a queen size bed in the bedroom and a sleep sofa in the great room. Electric baseboard heat, a gas fireplace in the bedroom, and air conditioning keeps the cottage comfortable year-round. Sophronia also has a lovely four person Hot Tub on the bedroom deck ! The kitchen is fully furnished and has an electric range w/oven, microwave, coffee-maker, toaster, refrigerator, and a full size washer/dryer. The full bath has a shower and all bath and bed linens are provided. The front porch has a pair of adirondack chairs and makes a great place to observe the birds in the feeder or relax during a summer rain shower.
LORY COTTAGE sleeps 4 adults and is situated above the lake at Green Valley and offers a beautiful view of the lake. This new addition to Green Valley opened in September, 2004 and is a great place to enjoy your quiet getaway ! Lory Cottage is 1/2 mile south of the other cottages, at the end of Green Valley Lane, which makes for a very private location. Lory Cottage amenties - Living room w/gas fireplace, eat in kitchen, TV w/dvd player, Am/Fm radio CD player, electric baseboard heat , central a/c, full bath downstairs w/1/2 bath upstairs, full size stack washer/dryer, 2 bedrooms upstairs - one with queen bed and one with full bed, sundeck with bedroom access, living room deck with hot tub, large front porch overlooking the lake. Lory Cottage is fully furnished, and has all of your necessary bed and bath linens and pillows.
Our 2 acre lake is stocked w/bass, bluegill, and channel catfish and provides our guests with many opportunties for outdoor activities. The lake is located a nice stroll or bike ride(2 bikes provided each cottage) down the lane from the cottages. Fishing, row-boating, relaxing on the dock, or strolling in the moonlight, make the lake one of our guests favorite spots. There are also several marked hiking trails that take you through tall white pine trees, across Bear Creek, and alongside part of an old split-rail fence built in the late 1800's.
Another great thing about Green Valley is our location. We are 268 mi. from New York City / Phil., Pa.- 206 mi. / Pitt., Pa.- 142 mi. / Rich., Va.- 200 mi. / Wash.D.C.,- 98 mi. / Balti., Md.- 98 mi. / Lancaster, Pa.- 140 mi.

It's a lovely, cool, sunny day in our charming woodland retreat. Once, many years ago, I owned a cabin in the woods in Md. and had to give it up for many reasons. I dream of it still. This cottage reminds me of all the best memories of my early adulthood.
So quiet, so tranquil. This is a blessed, enchanted place, out of time. My husband and I and our small dog, all enjoy the natural setting. We hope to return soon. Thank you, for sharing the magic with us.
It's almost time to return home, but I will keep Green Valley in my heart, comforted by knowing it is here waiting for our return again in the near future. The lake, the woods, the creek, the bluebirds, all the creatures of the forest...We have found and experienced a profound peace here...enjoyed by the three of us...such comfort, so much lovliness, we are grateful for this discovery....Until we meet again.
