Northwest Pennsylvania borders Lake Erie and thus offers great water sport attractions, in addition to lush forests for hiking, and quaint rural towns. Undisturbed land and nature extend for miles and remain the same as they did before European settlers joined the Native Americans. Titusville, the site of the first successful oil well and now part of the Oil Heritage Region State Park is living proof of the oil boom and is the reason this region has so many beautiful Victorian mansions and once-prosperous towns in the area. Outdoor lovers will want to visit McConnell’s Mill State Park for great hiking, photography, and wildlife viewing. Traveling northwest towards Erie will take you to the sandy beaches of one of the Great Lakes. Visit Presque Isle State Park, a National Natural Landmark, to experience the lake in a perfectly natural setting. |
