Far from the madding crowd, nestled amid the serenity of 100+ acres of rolling farmland in Southwestern Pennsylvania, Weatherbury Farm is the perfect escape from every day pressures. It is a quiet place removed from the cares of the workaday world where meadows and gardens, fields and valleys combine to create a perfect setting of tranquil relaxation. Here the gentle amenities of life are still observed.
To stay at Weatherbury Farm is to experience the richness and warmth of a period when welcoming friends or strangers was a cultivated art. The 1870\'s farmhouse has been restored and redecorated (much by the owners\' own hands) to create the kind of small bed and breakfast every one has always hoped to find. Guest rooms, lovingly furnished with an old-fashioned country charm, are warm, delightfully different, and provide privacy for all. The light, airy rooms feature stenciled walls, fireplaces, paddle fans, family keepsakes, original wide fir floors and private baths with nostalgic pull-chains. Each room has a sitting area, flowers from the garden and good books.
After a relaxing evening and peaceful night in the hospitable country rooms, guests at Weatherbury Farm will awaken to the aroma of a farm-fresh breakfast. Meals are delicious and plentiful. Fare includes family favorites such as apple-cinnamon pancakes, garden vegetable eggs, or creamy peach filled French toast accompanied by freshly-ground coffee or tea, juice and fruit.
Children of all ages will enjoy getting acquainted with the billy goat, sheep, chickens, ducks, rabbits and cattle. Weatherbury is a working farm. Each day features new experiences -- from hay making to sheep shearing.
Weatherbury Farm is a paradise for nature lovers, artists and photographers. Lovely gardens surround the farmhouse providing the perfect setting for relaxing in a hammock or playing croquet on the lush green lawn. The gorgeous sunsets and breathtakingly beautiful sunrises make a stay here truly a peaceful and relaxing experience.
There are many activities for the guest who wants to be busy, and those who so desire can be busy doing nothing at all. Guests may relax on the porches, picnic on the lovely grounds, or enjoy the heated swimming pool on a summer day.
Weatherbury Farm is set in an area of natural beauty to offer a stopping-off place for exploring the many attractions of the area. Opportunities for bicycling, boating, fishing, hiking, horse-back riding and golf abound. Auctions, antiquing and flea markets are among the many choices of entertaining year round activities. The new Starlake Amphitheater and Brooke Hills Playhouse offer a variety of summer entertainment. Meadowcroft, a recreated 19th century village, is also close by. Pittsburgh, Washington PA and panhandle West Virginia are within easy driving distance.

LOCATION
Weatherbury Farm is located in rural southwestern Pennsylvania ( 20 miles southwest of Pittsburgh and 10 miles west of Washington, PA), convenient to routes 1-70 and 1-79. A detailed map, with written directions is sent with the confirmation letter.

~The Livery
During the first six months of 1997, we dismantled this livery stable (shown right as it once stood in nearby Washington, PA) and moved it to the farm. From mid-February through the end of June, we spent every free moment (weekends, vacation days and nights after the time changed) dismantling. As with all our projects, we learned loads of new skills and enjoyed the opportunity to work together as a family.
This wonderful building, which we have called \"The Livery Stable\" was slated for destruction as new houses were to be built were it stood. Our goal is to save it for future generations, restoring the outside and inside, using the original wood and components as much as possible. Through the creative re-use of the stable as lodging accommodations we hope it will last until the next century, preserving a part of Washington County history.
Having opened the Summer Kitchen rooms in 1998, we are well into the re-construction of the livery stable at Weatherbury Farm (recent pictures are at bottom or check out our \"reconstruction photo album\" for even more photos).
There will be three two-story suites and a handicapped accessible room, with a bank barn lower level for breakfasts, parties and even small conferences.
Current plans are to heat the rooms with gas-burning fireplaces. From the front, the livery will look quite the same as before (see the picture top left); however, the back (photo second from bottom left), which will face up the meadow, will have a second story balcony, for enjoying the view.
-Suites - 3
The suites will have a living room -- heated with gas burning fireplace, and original 2 inch oak planks downstairs.
Upstairs, there will be a bedroom with a cathedral ceiling, rising 20 feet (and ensuite bath with clawfoot tub/shower). Flooring is the original yellow pine flooring from the hayloft.
The bedroom opens onto a wonderful deck with a view of the pasture.
Bathrooms (also on the 2nd floor) have old fashioned clawfoot tubs.
-Room (handicapped accessible) - 1
The handicapped accessible room is located in the one-story addition made to the Livery. It has a sitting area and is heated with a gas burning fireplace. And a wonderful view out of large corner windows of the meadow.
The ensuite bath has a wonderful old tub for soaking (but with lower sides than a clawfoot for easy accessibility).
