Eastern Ohio Eastern Ohio is an exciting vacation destination offering visitors great state parks, the Great Lakes, the metropolis of Cleveland, and great kid friendly attractions. Quail Hollow State Park is located between Akron and Canton and is home to the Stewart Manor house & gardens. Quail Hollow is the family estate of railroad baron H.B. Stewart, built in the 1920’s. The park is home to 700 acres of meadows, marshes, and woodlands, as well as, a visitor center, workshops, the Backyard Bird Habitat, and a carriage house. Headlands Beach State Park is on the scenic shore of Lake Erie and located 27 miles from Cleveland. This park features a mile-long sand beach, Headlands Dune State Nature Preserve, 5 miles of hiking trails, fishing for walleye, yellow perch, bluegill, and Coho salmon, and plenty of beach for sunbathers, beachcombers, jet skiers, and swimmers. A great historical attraction is Westwood Cemetery, located in Lorain County. Here, former slaves and famous abolitionists are buried in this beautiful and reverent atmosphere. Westwood offers a deep look into the spirit of the Abolitionist Movement. Kids will love to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame, both located in Cleveland. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame features new exhibits, new programs, live performances, and the world’s largest single collection of rock and roll memorabilia. The Pro Football Hall of Fame is an interactive experience featuring football tosses, a Tele-trivia Football Game, QB-1 Call-the-Play Theatre, and plenty of systems on which to play the all new NFL madden 2004. |
