Small private castle in the beautiful Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. Why settle for a hotel room with paper-thin walls, a bed and breakfast where you have to share the facilities, or a lodging or cabin that may or may not be private...when you can stay in your own private castle on 26 beautiful acres!
Our "mini castle" is now ready for discriminating guests to enjoy. It offers two master suites, a living room, dining room and fully equipped, modern kitchen. And a wonderful view from the hot tub which is in the terrace turret.
No detail has been overlooked. From the Egyptian cotton sheets in the master bedroom, to the thick, thirsty towels and guest bathrobe. Luxury is what you can expect at Castle McKenzie at Tulach Ard!
Relax in the large, steamy hot tub with that special someone. It's in the turret directly through the French doors that lead from the Master bedroom. Feel all of the stress of the "real world" drain from your body as you luxuriate in the hot tub in an ambiance reminiscent of days gone by.
Then, wrap yourself in one of the plush terrycloth robes that we provide and continue to relax in front of the cozy gas-log fireplace in the living room. Listen to romantic music from one of the many selections fround on our satellite dish system. Or, perhaps you've brought your own favorites from home to play on the stereo. The options are endless for the King and Quenn of the castle!
If you are in the mood for a movie, the castle offers premium satellite t.v. with over 150 channels including Showtime, HBO, Cinemax, FX and the Movie Channel along with Sirius radio channels. Or, we have many movies in the video library for you to choose from.
Perhaps you would like to relax on the balcony terrace with a book and enjoy the gorgeous mountain views. There are a number of Scottish romance novels that follow typical Scottish heroes and heroines. After all...this is the McKenzie Castle and is quite Scottish by nature!
The Master bedroom with it's beautiful four-poster bed, has a firm but extremely comfortable mattress, with beautifully appointed decor including antique bureau and Bombay chest. The decor throughout the castle was intended to create an ambiance of castle elegance, yet maintain the high level of comfort our guests would expect and appreciate.
The kitchen is fully equipped and has many "extras" including pewter goblets and cordial glasses, elegant flatware and Johnson Brothers "Old Castles of Great Britain china. There's a stocked spicde rack, and all of the kitchen utensils you may need.
And there are 26 acres to explore that includes a nature trail, small stream, fish pond with Gazebo, with Mother Nature and views everywhere.
We hope to open the lower level of the castle to our guests by year's end, where we will be offering a library with fireplace and pool table.
