The Southern Region The southern region of the state is home to the state capital, quaint villages with first rate antiquing, and 18 miles of coastline. Travel to the town of Winchester to visit Pisgah State Park that is known for its draw of hikers, mountain bikers, hunters, anglers, and cross country skiers. Visit some of the regions covered bridges in Hancock County, Swanzey, and Winchester. The cities of Concord, Manchester, and Nashua are the state’s hub for business, finance, and industry, as well as, cultural and historic offerings, museums, shopping, and nightlife. In these cities you will find the Nashua Center for the Arts, the Currier Museum of Art, and the Christa McAuliffe Planetarium. The coast is an area of sandy beaches, four hundred year old fishing villages, and popular resort towns. Hampton Beach is one such resort town with attractions for every season and a variety of activities, accommodations, and events. In Portsmouth visit the Strawbery Banke Musuem to learn about the generations of families who settled in the area.
