Glacier Country
Montana’s Glacier Country, found in the northwestern part of the state, is a year round vacation destination offering skiing and riding, world class golf, Glacier National Park, and first rate campgrounds. The region is filled with traditions of culture and history with museums, galleries, and historical attractions. Bigfork is a great town to visit while in Montana with the Swan River and Flathead lake providing days of water recreation. Bird watchers will want to visit during the annual Bigfork Bird Festival. Here, you can find great activities any day including biking, hiking, and rafting. To experience the life of the Native Americans in the region, take a trip to the Flathead Reservation. Outside of Missoula, this reservation hosts a yearly cultural camp, a cultural center, Pow Wow and War Dance Championships, and a huge buffalo feast. Glacier National Park has over 700 miles of trail to explore by foot or bike and beautiful scenery to go along with it. Wildlife enthusiasts will want to bring a camera, as it is fairly common to see large game and other wildlife while in the park. Hardcore anglers will want to be sure to bring their fishing poles since Montana is known for its abundance of popular fishing destinations. Check out the Middle Fork of the Flathead or the Blackfoot River for some of the most challenging, yet rewarding, fishing in the world. |
