Antiques, collectibles, featherbeds, quilts, and down comforters are very much at home in our Colonial Revival mansion, the only Lenox, Massachusetts inn on the National Register of Historic Places.
Secluded among white birches, stately oaks, and towering pines, Birchwood Inn has the pastoral stillness of a country morning yet is only a short walk from the celebrated restaurants, shops, and galleries of historic Lenox village.
Lenox, in the heart of the Berkshire hills, is the locale of Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, as well as Shakespeare & Co. The Norman Rockwell Museum, Edith Wharton\'s The Mount, Herman Melville\'s Arrowhead, Jacob\'s Pillow Modern dance festival, and Hancock Shaker Village are among the myriad attractions a stone\'s throw away.
Birchwood Inn\'s neighboring Kennedy Park boasts hundreds of acres of wooded trails for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing or snow shoeing. Golf, tennis, downhill skiing and water sports are also close at hand.

Birchwood Inn\'s eleven comfortably decorated guest rooms are named after previous residents of the mansion, dating back to 1767. All guest rooms have air-conditioning, outgoing telephones with modem connections, and private baths, and fireplaces grace six of the guest rooms.
Deluxe. Our very spacious deluxe rooms are on the second floor of the inn, each with a wood-burning fireplace, featherbed, sitting area, television, and private bath with luxurious robes.
Room 1, The Dana Room: Our most romantic and elegant room, in deep rose, sage green and ecru, features a four-poster canopy queen bed, featherbed, antiques, fireplace, a/c, large sitting area with loveseat and fainting couch, antiques, TV, and private bath with tub/shower combination.
Room 4, The Dewey Room: A spacious room, in deep plum, moss green and cream, features a four-poster king bed, featherbed, antiques, fireplace, a/c, large sitting area with sleep sofa, TV, and private bath with shower.
Room 5, The Egleston Room: This spacious yet cozy room in warm autumnal tones features a four-poster canopy queen bed, featherbed, antiques, fireplace, a/c, sitting area, TV, garden view, and private bath with shower and clawfoot tub.
Mini-Suite. Birchwood Inn\'s new third floor Mini-Suite is a cozy aerie, overlooking the village of Lenox with a mountain view from autumn to early spring.
Room 8-9, The Wright-Smith Suite: Decorated in sand and berry red, this third floor mini-suite features a queen bed, dormer windows, A/C, and ceiling fan as well as a sitting room with a daybed, gas fireplace, TV, ceiling fan, luxurious robes, and a private hall bath with claw foot tub.
Carriage House. The first floor rooms in our adjacent 1885 carriage house offer a cozy hideaway and share a front porch.
Carriage House 1, The Post Room: Our garden-view room, in warm peach, features a queen bed, featherbed, fireplace, a/c, TV, mini-fridge, garden view, and private bath with shower. (Limited handicap accessibility)
Carriage House 2, The MacDonald Room: This sunny room in crimson paisley and chambray patchwork features a queen bed, featherbed, Vermont gas stove, a/c, TV, and private bath with shower.
Moderate: We have three moderate rooms on the second floor of the inn and two on the third floor:
Room 2, The Hubbard Room: With an oriental ambiance, this room features a king bed (or two twin beds), sitting area, antiques, a/c, ceiling fan, and a private hall bath with shower. (second floor)
Room 3, The Wagner Room: This garden view room in sunny yellows features a queen bed, sitting area, a/c, ceiling fan, and private bath with shower. (second floor)
Room 6, The Wilson Room: The former sewing room of the mansion is decorated in buttercup and cornflower blue and features a queen bed, antiques, a/c, ceiling fan, and private bath with shower. (second floor)
Room 7, The Goodwin Room: This room has recently been redecorated in soft greens and pink and features a king bed (or two twins), dormer windows, a/c, ceiling fan, and a private bath with shower. (3rd floor)
Room 10, The Loring Room: This cozy and secluded room has recently been redecorated in raspberry, farmhouse green and cream and features a queen bed, dormer windows, antiques, a/c, and an extra-large private bath with shower.
