A Lot of History Boston is often referred to as the “walking city” as many of its main sights are within walking distance of each other. If you want to recapture and feel the spirit of rebellion and take a mental trip to colonial revolutionary Boston, a walk down the Freedom Trail, which runs along sixteen of the most famous sights, is a must-do. The two and a half to three mile trail takes roughly three hours to view, but could take longer depending on the length of time you spend delving into each of the sights. Some of the main historical attractions include the Old State House, where the Declaration of Independence was read in 1776 and also the site of the Boston Massacre, the USS Constitution, Boston Common (America’s oldest park with a rather dark history of being a location for public floggings and hangings), the Paul Revere House, and the Old South Meeting House. You can take a self-guided tour along the Freedom Trail, as it is marked with red lines and easy to follow. |
