Sarasota, located on Florida's west coast between Tampa and Ft. Myers is quickly becoming one of the Gulf Coast’s fastest growing vacation destinations. With breathtaking sunsets, cultural attractions, water sports, fishing, exotic tropical plants and animals, and beautiful beaches, there is so much to see and do in the area that you may need more than a week to take it all in! Known for its beautiful homes, visitors will be able to see homes that were built over 50 years ago as winter vacation cottages and state of the art bay front estates with manicured grounds and the newest in technological advances. Lovers of the arts will be taken aback with all of the opportunities for growth and shopping in the area. Visit the John and Mabel Ringling Museum of Art or the Crowley Museum and Nature Center for antique circus posters, seashell creations, or sand sculptures or get a seat at any of the musical venues in town to see or hear the Florida West Coast Symphony, the Sarasota Ballet of Florida, the Jazz Club of Sarasota, or the Sarasota Blues Society. | The area is known for its beautiful beaches, great fresh or salt-water fishing, and fantastic golfing for any ability level to fulfill visitors’ leisure needs. The Gulf of Mexico, Sarasota Bay, the Intracoastal Waterway, as well as, an abundance of lakes and tributaries provide endless fishing whether visitors want to fish from a boat, land, or a pier. Boat rentals and charters are offered all along the coast at numerous marinas and the Tony Saprito Pier, Siesta Bridge, and Island Park areas are known spots to catch the big one. The Sarasota area is home to 32 golf courses and 20 more in surrounding areas. Check each one out for tee times and ability levels, as there is sure to be a golf course that fits your needs and golfing prowess. The beaches in the area can be found in the areas of Longboat Key, Lido Key, and Siesta Key. Longboat Key with Greer Island Park, found on Beer Can Island, is at the northern tip across the Longboat Pass Bridge. A relatively unused area, this is a great place to relax and get away from the crowds. Lido Key is home to North Lido Beach, known for privacy, Lido Public Beach offering everything you need in a public beach with a snack pavilion, playground, and good parking, and South Lido Park with a “back to natural Florida atmosphere.” Large pines and great trails make this beach one of a kind without the clutter of modernized beach areas. Siesta Key, possibly Sarasota’s most popular beach, is award winning with numerous access points, Siesta Village, and numerous shopping areas. Siesta Public Beach is huge with large crowds and a fun atmosphere, but if you are looking for something more secluded try out Turtle Beach at the southern end of the key with good parking, a playground, and walkovers to the public beach. Sarasota is sure to capture your heart and attention with the beautiful colors of the Gulf of Mexico, the blooms of Florida flowers, and the white of the beautiful sugar beaches on hear coast.
