Northwestern Colorado is truly America’s winter playground. The Rocky Mountains and Continental Divide shore up dozens of huge resorts and small ski and snowboarding areas where thousands of visitors flock every year. Steamboat Springs, originally traveled to for its hot springs, is now a world-class ski resort known for its deep “Champagne Powder.” Summit County offers great ski terrain, quaint mountain towns, and beautiful resorts in places like Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper, Frisco, Silverthorne, Arapahoe Basin, and Dillon. The rich and famous flock to the Aspen and Snowmass Area whose million-dollar condos, award-winning restaurants, and vigorous cultural scene make it a miniature metropolitan area. The posh and European areas of Vail, Beaver Creek, and Avon with quaint resort villages, first rate shopping area, and excellent lodging facilities draw crowds for the winter snow and summer fun. Winter Park, home to the Winter Park/Mary Jane ski area has been a favorite of people from the Denver/Front Range areas for its “non-resort” image. Equally as exciting as the winter is in this area is the summer and fall. Hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails open up and provide plenty of opportunity to see the beautiful views that can be found everywhere in northwestern Colorado. |
