What began as the trapping and mining town of Frisco was relatively unfamiliar with the tourism industry until the ski boom which now brings about 3 million people to the area per year. Frisco is located west of Denver off Interstate 70 just miles past the Eisenhower tunnel. Conveniently situated near the resort towns of Keystone, Breckenridge, Dillon, Vail, Beaver Creek, and Copper Mountain and the ski and recreation areas of Arapahoe Basin, Loveland, Ski Cooper, there are endless opportunities for sight seeing and outdoor activity. Historic Main Street is home to great local restaurants, stores, and nightlife all in historic buildings. | The Frisco area has plenty of recreation opportunities and events to awe and entertain visitors year round. The Peninsula Recreation Area has a multi-purpose field, a disc golf course, several campgrounds, picnic facilities, and an extensive trails system for bikers and hikers in the fall and is a playground for cross-country skiers, snowshoers and biathletes at the Frisco Nordic Center in the winter. The Frisco Bay Marina, on the shores of beautiful Lake Dillon, offers runabouts, sailboats, pontoons, canoes and kayaks for water recreation in the spring and summer. Bikers, hikers, Nordic skiers and in-line skaters use the Ten Mile Recreational Pathway all year long. The path runs over 50 miles from Vail to Frisco and Dillon and from Keystone to Breckenridge. The town also has two town parks, Walter Byron Park and Meadow Creek Park, that are great for family fun, picnicking, and sunbathing. Frisco also hosts great events year round from the two free concert series during the summer to the World’s Highest Barbecue Challenge. In whatever season you decide to visit, Frisco has an activity or attraction for you and the whole family. |
