Northern Arizona is known for its breathtaking landscapes that enchant the mind's eye and capture the soul. Hikers and mountain bikers love the mountainous terrain during summer months when the chair lift takes visitors up 11,500-foot Agassiz Peak. When the snow falls, the resort's 2,300-foot vertical drop and 32 trails of diverse terrain provide a playground for skiers and riders. Within the city limits of Flagstaff, Buffalo Park and Mount Elden provide miles of challenging hiking and mountain biking trails. Rock climbers choose from several locations that have world-class basalt and limestone cliffs. Sedona, known as red rock country, is a four-season destination for history, geology, archaeology, art, and sports buffs, and especially for adventurous outdoor enthusiasts who love dramatic scenery. Beloved red-rock monoliths named Coffeepot, Cathedral and Bell, and Snoopy surround this striking city. Also, the site of this city marks the mouth of stunning Oak Creek Canyon, an incredible chasm that is wildly magical. |
