| VILLA...there is also the Farmhouse in tuscan rustic style. - Siena Vacation Rentals Tuscany Vacation Lodging |
In history books about Siena, a small borough is mentioned under the name of "Clatinianum", which was a witness to many events that forged the destiny of the city, and was laid waste by a band of Spaniards in 1554.
The Villa was built at the end of XVII° century by the ancestor of the currents proprietors, Quinto Settano, pseudonym of Monsignor Lodovico Sergardi, a writer and a lover of the arts. The small borough already existed in 1500 with the name of "Clatinianum" as a property of Sergardi family. Nowadays the Villa, overlooking a beautiful italian garden, decorated with statues representing the four season, and the medievaltowers of Siena in the distance, welcomes guests who appreciate historical sites and suggestive atmospheres. The Villa is divided into large apartments, the mos tsuggestive ones can be reached walking through the large entrance hall dominated by the coat of arms of the Sergardi family and their motto "Expertus fidelem". Guests will appreciate lemon trees, vases of geraniums all around the Villa and the Arcadian atmosphere wich has been for centuries a frame to the tradition of a family of notaries and lovers of letters and arts. We are certain that the peace and serenity of this ensemble will remain with them forever.
Today, among the gently rolling landscape and the beautifully playing light, the Farmhouse and Villa di Catignano blends harmoniously with its environment. Renowned oil and wine were made here; nowadays the owners welcome their guests personally to apartments masterfully renovated in accordance with the traditional style and architecture.
Catignano is 8km from Siena and just 3km from the road to Florence, passing through Gaiole, Radda and Greve in Chianti. Nearby are marvellous mediaeval towns such as Montalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano, and San Gimignano, Volterra, and Massa Marittima - none more than 50km away. You can take the motorway through the Maremma, and quickly arrive at the beaches at Punta Ala, Castiglione della Pescaia and Talamone, all less than 100km away
Set within a lovely Italian garden, the Villa and Fattoria are two parts of a single structure. Look out at the 'English wood' and between the olive groves you glimpse a walk of Cypress trees. These lead to the swimming pool, from which you enjoy lovely views of Siena and its surroundings.
ACCOMMODATION:

The Fattoria has a broad selection of apartments, sleeping from two up to six. Depending on the size and season, weekly prices range from EURO €260 to €827 a week, with heating ranging from €40 to €75. Extra beds will cost €75 and a child's cot €45.
