The house is truly lovely. It is an 18th-century stone building with three floors spanning roughly 325 square feet each.
In short, the house is made up of: 1 kitchen/living room + 2 bedrooms + 1 full bathroom + 1 powder room + 2 pantries. The house does not have a lawn, but there is space just outside the French doors leading out from the downstairs bedroom for a small table, sunshade and chairs. There are two entrances, the front door which takes you into the kitchen/pantry and the back door which leads to the downstairs bedroom, as the house is nestled on a hill, with three floors on one side and two on the other. You should be able to get a better understanding of the layout from the pictures.
The house is fully furnished with all new or antique pieces (Tuscan pieces from the 19th century). The light fixtures are lavish and we have provided a television (satellite), radio and CD player. Unfortunately, we have not yet installed a telephone (there is a public phone in town if you don't have a mobile), but telephone, computer, and internet access are available at our office. A central heating system (gas) has also been installed. And, naturally, a working fireplace adorns the second floor, as how would a mountain house be complete without one!
Casa Marta is nestled in the village of Pascoso, in the Apuane Park (Lucca province of Tuscany), at 2,321 feet a.s.l. Pascoso has under 100 inhabitants, and is so small, with such narrow stone roads, that cars enter town along a short strip of the main road only. Traffic is almost unheard of in Pascoso;there are no nightclubs or other attractions of mass tourism. However, you will find that all the essentials services are provided by the town's one store, which is run by a local family, and sells everything to meet your daily needs, from fruits and vegetables, and bread to laundry detergent. Next door to the store, the family runs an old style trattoria so welcoming in its genuine Tuscan hospitality, you'll feel like a guest in their home. Pascoso's finest asset and the most important reason to travel there, is the nature in which it is literally immersed. Many of the old mule paths are suitable for mountain bikes and horses, which you can rent in Pascoso. However, it is not far from the "cities of arts" of Tuscany (Lucca, Pisa, Florence, Siena, etc), and beaches (Forte dei Marmi, Viareggio) are no more than 30 miles far.
Another house of the same owner (Casa O), suitable for 5 people is available no more than 50 meters far from Casa Marta.
