Stillwaters Bed & Breakfast is our Home on Otter Lake.
Located on 2 acres of Douglas Fir and Ponderosa Pine trees in the Lower Tulameen
area of British Columbia, Canada. Once a stopping place on the old Dewndey Trail to the interior gold fields, Tulameen has an interesting history. The south end of the lake drains into the Tulameen River and the town was originally the summer camp of our aboriginal citizens. A place where they collected the red ocre stone for paint which they both used and traded. Although mining in coal terminated after a local disaster and more recently copper as world prices dropped, the lure of gold still draws the placer miners into the area. For rock hounds the Tulameen River offers the best variety of rock finds in the area. And of course a notorious character always rounds out an area's historical appeal. The "gentleman" train robber, Bill Miner spent some of his later years in our area. In the early 1900's before the advent of refrigerators the ice of Otter Lake was cut and packed on to Kettle Valley rail cars for shipment over the border to our neighbours in the U.S.
There is great topographical variety from alpine meadows to escarpments, range land, conifer forests, lakes, rivers, mountains and valleys. The seasons are distinct with their own special beauty and range of activities and Leonard and I invite you to experience our natural surrounding and comfortable suites. We have 2 suites, one on the lower terrace and the other on the upper terrace, each one private, comfortable and clean with a full breakfast menu.
